July 22, 2025

WASHINGTON, DC — Congressman Craig Goldman (R-TX) is proud to announce that former U.S. Secretary of the Army and U.S. Representative Preston "Pete" Murdoch Geren III will serve as Chair of the Military Academy Nominations Committee for Texas’ 12th Congressional District.

Geren brings an incredible and distinguished record of public service to this role. Previously, he represented Texas’ 12th District in Congress for four terms before serving in several key leadership roles at the Department of Defense, including Acting Secretary of the Air Force, Under Secretary of the Army, and ultimately, the 20th Secretary of the Army under Presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

“I’m excited and honored that Pete Geren has agreed to chair my Military Academy Nominations Committee. He is the statesman of Fort Worth, and has modeled the standard for character, honor, and integrity during his many decades of service to our nation,” said Congressman Craig Goldman. “There is no one better suited to help select the next generation of military leaders from our community.”

“Nominating young men and women for admission to our nation’s military academies is a privilege and weighty responsibility for a Member of Congress. I am honored to support Congressman Goldman in this important work,” said Pete Geren, former U.S. Secretary of the Army and U.S. Representative.

Applications for United States Military Service Academy nominations can be found on Congressman Goldman’s website.
